Why the file is bigger than it looks
The app displays the avatar as a small circle, but it stores a square image at a much higher resolution so it stays sharp on every screen size. That stored file is what you get.
It is also why a screenshot is a poor substitute: you would be capturing the shrunken, circular preview rather than the picture behind it.
What the link should look like
- A profile address such as tiktok.com/@username works directly.
- A link to one of their videos also works; the account is read from it.
- A search results page or a hashtag page does not point at an account and will be refused.
Using someone else's picture
A profile photo is usually a photograph of a real person, and in many countries that carries protections beyond copyright. Saving one for reference is ordinary; re-using it as your own, or in anything published, is not.
